looks like an 18th century Scottish broadsword- you should try contacting the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh or the Kelvingrove Museum Glasgow.

After much googling I thought the same,,,,I never said much but saw a similar one on website selling them, ironic as the day I found it a family member passed away, he was Scotish and lived in Glasgow...99*

can't find a picture of a genuine 18th century basket-hilted broadsword. But that gives yout the general idea
