Capt Dom's Most Important Posting to Date....

We almost all, complain and lament
almost daily... about how the
within the State of Florida,s fiefdom, The Department of State
and in particular certain individuals within DHR don't seem to believe in
"one of the very foundations of once great Country - that being
Free Enterprise..... anymore.

All they believe in is BIG GOVERNMENT and keeping control within there agency!

Every one of us must post a request on to Rick Scot's
the future Governor of Florida a complete over hall of DHR!

Mentioned that if the Honorable Future Governor really wishes to create JOBS
in our State and on the Treasure Coast he needs to remove those in DHR
that have consistently blocked the issuance of both Reseach & Exploration permits
and Salvage Permits to those of us in the Private Sector - where true JOBS are
actually created....

The link is below:

http://www.scotttransition.com/

Click on both "jobs"

http://www.scotttransition.com/jobs/

and

http://www.scotttransition.com/send-your-ideas/

Rick was not an insider and DHR is driven by "Insiders"
Make sure to point this out!

This masy be the most any of you can ever do now to
Help Keep the Age of Discovery Alive"

I suggested a few we all know should be fired!

I know one thing, either we stop acting in the art of Diplomacy now and start litigating, or what we will be left with is a history lesson called, "remember the days of the Treasure Hunters?"

AGAIN..... For our voices to be heard
you all need to shout.... in the right room!

This is not it..... Go to Rick Scot's web site
fill in the information page and point the finger
where it needs to be pointed.

These people do not respond to a single voice
but they will respond to numbers of voices from the
people and Rick Scot is representing himself as
an outsider - free enterprise advocate and one
who will reduce spending in our government.

Lets show him the way!

The NY Times has a story about him today and it says that he intends to fire 5% of all state employees, let's hope he gets rid of all the obstructionists that are holding legitimate salvage hostage. I hope to retire to the treasure coast in a few years and want to work with some you guys in warm clear water instead of the cold murky stuff here in New England.

Bet of luck to all of you and go Rick Scott!

He ran on a platform of "Let's get to work" and touting how he was going to create jobs and now he's planning on firing 5% of the state's employees?

Aquanut rocks! :headbang:

Dom, I'll be sending a letter to Governor Elect Scott's Office today. So, I guess I'll do my part as you have asked, but I have a concern;

There needs to be back-up data to our contentions and the creation of jobs by our industry should the B.A.R. be downsized or eliminated. There has to be an emphasis on private enterprise and not the halls of education, i.e. colleges, universities and do good not-for-profit entities. We must state a saving grace that distinguishes our lobbying so that we are an enterprise amongst ourselves. For example;

Private Sector Recovery and Salvage Companies employ so many Floridians, xyz.

vs.

Tallahassee prevents the employment of so many Floridians, xyz.

We need numbers. That's what rings the bell when you talk to the politicos.

Odyssey Marine is spending millions of dollars in legal fees fighting Spain's attempt to subjugate Admiralty law. If they succeed then all salvors win. GO ODYSSEY! :hello2:

No offense Jeff K but what you are talking about is stock swings...

Odyssey's legal expenditures are "theater"... that effect the above.... I have talked with a few of their boys...
seen the pretty bottles... Really have been impressed with what they could be doing
but... they have the same disease the Fisher folks got... being a cartel....

For what they spend in a day we can run for a month - in shallow water....

I have suggested to their folks, if they really want to pick up the orb
that they could come and work with us and
we can help them be, all they can be, but it appears now
Greg Stemm and John Morrow are now laughing
all the way to the bank and in the mean time
the Goools of the world..... continue to be Goools of the world....

and creeping socialism continues to turn into state capitalism...

Blah, blah, blah.... so what else is new....

Capt Dom, I'm sending my letter to the link you posted. If enough of us do that, Rick Scott may take notice.

Re: Capt Dom's Most Important Posting to Date....

Thanks Salvor 6

Every one of us needs to do this....
and yes... Odyssey based in Tampa
would do well to shift some support to what is happening right here
in our own state - as it certainly is a battle ground....

Our very coast lines are actually the frontier and where the battle
lines are drawn for the "average joe" or "joanne" for that matter....

Sorry Jeff K if I am offending you, {and I see the result!} ha Ha,
but I get sick and tired of all these "public companies"
who end up throwing a lot of other folks money around
while - what ends up happening is a bunch of lawyers - like jackels
end up running up their bills and the creeping socialists
who are truly only concerned with providing themselves with
job security at the public expense "skate by"....

Re: Capt Dom's Most Important Posting to Date....

Just sent my letter to the Governor Elect.

Hope this starts a landslide.

BTW Dom, I agree with you on the public companies. They do very little about or to help the private (regular guy) sector other than make sure, if you don't have the proper six figure operating budget, you can't explore, recover and profit. We had better be forewarned that good old Corporate America is banging at the back door to shut the "mom and pops" out of this business and monopolize it for themselves.

Dom... You mis-spelled Goools. It should have read "Goolds of the world." :icon_pirat:

What you fail to realize is the precedent that will be set for all salvors. If Odyssey wins the Mercedes case then Spain won't be able to claim sovereign immunity on commercial cargoes, or any other country for that matter.

P.S. John Morris retired for health reasons two years ago.

Re: Capt Dom's Most Important Posting to Date....

The spelling mistake was poetic license....
Plus it is good to see if folks can catch the satire...

I am by no means against Odyssey.
However, I maintain they can do a lot more and get a great
"bang for the buck" by helping to pick up the orb right
here in their own home state and be a genuine voice for
private sector interests- maintaining their rights to continue being an
active part of the process of exploration.

They have the funding and throwing some of those dollars toward
bringing certain State Agencies in line with what our New Florida
Honorable Governor "elect" has been preaching can now be
timely....... Greg......

I have a question here.
I want to send a letter to Gov. Scott but, Since I'm fairly new to all this I don't know everything that has happened in the past. So is there any of you guys or gals that have been in the business for a long time and are a good writer that could send us newer guys a condensed version of the Facts the need to be said? I don't want to send a letter of my own personal feelings that my not be factual and cause more harm than good. :help:

It is now time for us to really
attempt to do something positive
for our passion and industry of
undersea exploration. You can call it treasure hunting
if you like because this is the "Treasure Coast"!

Even Rick Scot is aware of this term.
He needs to be let known that a concerted
effort by public employees has been underway in
previous administrations within the Department of State
to undermine capitalist endeavors when it comes to salvage
and the protection of historical cultural resources by the "job'
creating public sector....
Bang on the drum now folks....

As Dom suggested before, now is a really good time to contact the governor's office and let him know how BAR regulations (or other state entity) are affecting your business, whether that be an LLC, corporation or sole proprietorship.

Scott, who told The Palm Beach Post last week that he would begin issuing executive orders immediately after taking office, hinted Monday night to business leaders who contributed to his inauguration that he would call a halt to regulations he believes are hindering Florida corporations. Before the traditional parade in front of the state Capitol begins Tuesday afternoon, he is expected to put a freeze on new regulations

Re: Capt Dom's Most Important Posting to Date....

just a note: we had a nice congratulatory letter from Debbie Mayfield (Representative District 80,Republican) on the "gold bird" find -
government does take notice
- to me the American dream is individuals who believe in their work enough to go forward - accepting the economic risk whatever the reward
Thanks Capt Dom for reminding me that sometimes you need to speak up for what you believe - not just work it
