Shipwreck Treasure Hunter's First Love

I am going to suggest to the Moderators they make this a separate
discussion item right under shipwrecks - as it will probably get a lot of
continuing action from those of us who venture into the not-so-deep!

Post some photos of your favorite work boat?

I'll start with my money pit...

The MRV "Enterprise"

She is big and comfortable - yet only draws
five and one half feet! She's got a 5,000 PSI Mako
compressor, with a 4 bottle cascade system and a great aft deck
with six hooka reels....

Her interior is only half built. Why? Because like
most treasure hunters I soon was over spending on her
given my own personal finances.....
{Now how many of you have done this with the one you love....?}

Now, she is sitting on the hook like
a living reef..... waiting for me to find some new
patrons to share her with....

Re: Shipwreck Treasure Hunter's First Love

Thanks guys but those photos
were when i last took it out of the Yard!

She been sitting on the hook for an extended
period and needs a major refit, bottom job and
on a 65 foot aluminum power cat....

We can throw $150,000.00 at her and just be getting
started! $250,000.00 will be more like it and about
4 months to get her in and out of the yard.

Capt Dom, sink the Enterprise about 5 miles off Jupiter, FL. before you spend any more money. It would make a great artificial reef site for spearfishermen. Then, spend all your cash on investing with Troy and bring his boat on the Jupiter wreck site. It will cost a lot less.

Pete, 5 miles off Jupiter will put you way too deep to do any spearfishing. Just 1-2 miles would be great!

Dom has another dig boat for the Jupiter wreck called the Tank. I called it a peeshooter once. :tongue3:
It has a pretty colorful history as well. I'll let Dom tell you about the Tank.

Great recommendation, but I would suggest it be in 130 ft depths on the 500's off sebastian, obviously for my own personal gain!!!

Re: Shipwreck Treasure Hunter's First Love

Arh....

Some of ya be a cruel lot.... arh...
she's {the Enterprise} got some fine lines still - keeps herself afloat - and
unlike some - I've kept - don't talk back.... :icon_pirat:
I have respect for me girls....

Nice ride Bonnie.... and she done ya well this season....
hull lines look familiar....

Here is a few shots of the "Tank" one of our other work horses...
We call her the Tank because she is built like one!

She has a 6-92 injected down to about 475 hp
swings a 30 inch square wheel with a 34 inch blower.

As functional but "Spartan" interior as you can have
Started out her life as a 34 Foot Crusader Hull and was then custom
designed to be the ultimate pirate vessel by one of the night divers of the
1715 Fleet....

She can carry 600 gallons of diesel with saddle bag tanks
sitting over a flush deck! - has a 15kw gen set - air conditioned
built in hooka - and can sleep 5
but four of them better really like each other!

The former owner of the Tank, the "night diver" Dom refers to, is David Luke, of "Luke's Trench" infamy.

Re: Shipwreck Treasure Hunter's First Love

And Cornelius

The "Enterprise" is more like a medium problem
than a small one....

Luckily she is paid for and for the most part self tending
but any medium to larger vessel - without a patron or regular
crew - unless it is in a bottle on a mantle, is in a
constant state of deterioration...

There are more medium to larger vessels out here - than there are jobs
and or purposes for them, so to some, turning her into beer cans or a
living reef makes sense but.... when, not if, I get another wheel barrel full of
money I want to make her right again.... even though one can probably
purchase someone else's problem - yet in better shape or more ready
to go.....

As a power cat - she is a comfortable stable work platform. Heavy wind
passes over her like an airplane wing so in a gale she sticks to the water
and - at least for now remains water tight! For a long distance mission
she can be made to be ideal.... relatively shallow draft but capable of carrying
significant fuel and stores and most important.... no loans or mortgage
on her back!

Re: Shipwreck Treasure Hunter's First Love

Anyhow,

To any parties that have an idea what a 65 foot aluminum power cat
research vessel can be worth - I will sell a half interest in her
for $150,000.00 and agree
to plow $75,000.00 of that right back into her for a major refit.

With $75,000.00 in upgrades and a finished
comfortable interior she will appraise out at about $650,000.00
to $900,000.00+

We split the difference on expenses and insurance and go treasure
hunting!
