Memorial Service for Lou Ullian at FUN Coin Show in Tampa - Jan. 7th - 4pm

A memorial service for Lou Ullian will be held during the FUN coin show on Friday, January 7th, from 4 to 5pm. The service will be held in Rooms 8 & 9 of the Tampa Convention Center (where the FUN show is)...333 S. Franklin St. in Tampa.

    LOUIS JOSEPH ULLIAN
    5 March 1932 — 16 May 2010
In our industry, Lou was known as one of the “gentleman divers” of the
Real Eight Corporation, those pioneer salvagers who first found the wreckage of the 1715
Spanish treasure fleet off Florida’s east coast. His career was as a safety engineer for the
Navy, Air Force, and NASA, where he finished his life’s work as Deputy Director of Safety
at Cape Canaveral. After retirement, Lou was still in demand by those agencies as a consultant.
From his association with the treasure galleons, Lou became a first class numismatist,
specializing in the Spanish colonial coinage being recovered from the fleet of 1715. As an
engineer, Lou was instrumental in developing techniques and equipment for the recovery of
those treasures. He was also recognized as one of the premier collectors of these coins (and
US coins) and of small gauge model railroad trains.
Condolences (cards) may be sent to his wife, Helen R. P. Ullian, and family at:
7820 S. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, FL 32952-6706.

Those of us that have jobs can't make it on Friday. Why not have it on Sat? Ever try to drive thru downtown Tampa between 3pm and 4pm?

I believe it was scheduled that way so as to immediately follow the meeting of the Sunken Treasure Literature Club (see Dave's other post). FWIW, I do have a job in Atlanta, yet try to make the FUN show and STLC meeting every year. Hopefully you can make it over from Pinellas Park, would like to say hello....
