Does anyone know a good link that would be helpful in attempting to identify the type/period of an Iron Swivel gun? I located two fragments of one in a field not far from a salt marsh. I just finished cleaning the pieces after about a month of electrolysis. One piece has one of the trunions and the other does not. I have gone back to that field but have yet to find any more pieces so the two I found could have been souvenirs from long ago. I plan on going back and expanding my search into the marsh and surrounding low areas but my glass is half empty on that one.

It is apparent from the two split fragements that the gun exploded, but the circumstances are unknown.

Thought i would show the fragments I'm talking about. I believe this fired a two inch projectile but difficult to know for sure with partial pieces. The dimpled surface I feel was not a result of the oxidation but casting as the oxidation was not that bad on that side.
