I am new to bothmetal detecting and diving, having just made my first open water dive July 1stto The Almirante wreck (Atlantic City NJ) and I actually found what appears tobe a pewter (?) glass bottomed tankard? It's hard to believe a more modernversion would have been dropped over the side of a fishing/dive boat andsettled in the wreck, so I'm thinking this went down with the ship almost 95years ago. I'd like some advice on how to preserve and clean it, while notworth much as "treasure", it's priceless to me as my first dive andfind. It would be wonderful if the ship name or a person’s name was inscribedon it. Right now I have it in the toilet tank for continuous rinsing with freshwater but think I'll need electrolysis? I've fooled around with that on a smallscale but think I might have to bump it up a notch or maybe send it somewhere?Any advice from seasoned treasure hunters would be appreciated. Thanks Chris
