    Site Recorder 4

    Check this out

    Site Recorder 4
Site Recorder 4 is a versatile and fully integrated Geographic
Information System (GIS) designed for use in maritime, freshwater and
intertidal archaeology. Site Recorder 4 is powerful, practical and easy
to use. The program has been designed by archaeologists for
archaeologists so you don't need to be a GIS expert to use it.

Site Recorder can manage thousands of finds, drawings, dive logs,
photographs, video clips, documents and geophysics data - all the
information relating to a project. Items can be linked together
allowing quick and easy retrieval for analysis and interpretation. Site
Recorder has been specifically designed for mapping shipwreck sites
underwater and on land, for collecting information during fieldwork, as
a finds database and for making archaeological site plans. Many separate
programs previously used for data collection can be replaced by this one
    simple but fully-featured GIS.

    Site Recorder 4 SE
Site Recorder 4 SE (Student Edition) is a free survey program developed
specifically for use in marine and intertidal archaeological projects.
The program can be used for survey data processing and to assist in the
management and organisation of survey tasks. Features on the site can
be represented by a series of points and measurements made between the
points can be used to generate a site plan. Site Recorder 4 SE supports
direct distance measurements (DSM, trilateration), depth measurements,
GPS positions, offsets, ties (baseline trilateration) and radial
measurements. Site Recorder 4 SE also records dive logs and associates
them with survey points and measurements. This program can be used and
redistributed by anyone at no cost so is ideal for teaching
organisations, universities, schools and avocational groups.

    Site Reader
Site Reader is a free program that can be used for viewing, printing and
searching Site Recorder files. With Site Recorder 4 and Site Reader you
can share your site data with team members and colleagues or publish it
all on the Web for free.

    Case Studies
Examples of projects using Site Recorder 4 can be found in the Case
Studies section of the 3H web site. Here you can see images taken from
the program and read about how it has been used in the field. For some
sites you can download demonstration versions of the Site Recorder files
that can be opened and viewed using Site Reader.

    Re: Site Recorder 4

This is all well and good but what use is this if the State does not issue a search permit?
