Re: New video release from the Azores

Charlie,

Aren't these stills from Odyssey Marine of the RV Odyssey and recovery of coins on the SS Republic?

Re: New video release from the Azores

It sure looks like it. Odyssey's ROV is called "Zeus."

Re: New video release from the Azores

Charlie,
Let me know if this recovery is in Azores ??
Robert you must be sure, I last recovery I have heard on Azorean waters was performed by a local group with scuba.
Can you certify the video was not in Azores ?

Thanks

Re: New video release from the Azores

Absolutely, it is of the SS Republic.

But Charlie's video doesn't claim this is their recovery, they just elude to deep wrecks and the technology available to recover them. I just thought it was strange to post it as their latest dive video and make it sound like it was their ROV in the footage. But this is definitely, from the RV Odyssey and Zeus recovering gold coins on the Republic.

Also if you look at the still with the Flat Panel television on the wall, you can read "Odyssey Marine Exploration". I have this documentary recorded, but it would take some doing to get it on the computer. Not impossible, just not right now!

It also looks like they "borrowed" the page layout from the RS Operations web site. Red flags with this one.

I thought those looked strangely familiar. Yes, Odyssey big bold letters on the ROV.

Charlie what gives?

seeker and Archaeologist; I take my hat off to yous that are raising the
the Red Flag.

The individual in the film is Bob Marx. He is very well known in the industry. Both well Respected and Disliked by some.

Who knows, The Americas Group may have the right to use the video from Odyssey Marine and claim it as their own! But a red flag comes up when a company official portrays the video as "their latest dive video." Its more of a "push for investors" video in my opinion.

Looks like Scott Heimdal, the lost lad from Peoria, pulled the video off youtube.com because it was copyrighted. Unless he has permission to do such things someone needs to read that boy the riot act. I bet Odyssey will be pissed to see their footage being used for some kind of shabby investment promotional by a third rate op for dubious projects. Plagerism and copyright violations are crimes. His web site is full of plagerized material from books and other web sites, too. Some folks have no respect for the accomplishments and hard work of others....<sigh>

Patrimony... He didn't have permission, and your right, Odyssey didn't like it.
