Hello Gentlemen, and Ladies,

Please Google search: Gorham treasure hunter schemed to defraud investors, court document indicates - The Portland Press Herald / Maine Sunday Telegram

Edward Michaud (Trident Research and Recovery of Framingham, Massachusetts) admitted to having forged the so-called "Bullion" documents regarding the SS Port Nicholson to federal investigators who got him to cooperate by recording a conversation with Greg Brooks (Sub Sea Research, also d/b/a Sea Hunters of Gorham, Maine), who admitted to having known about and/or directed Michaud to forge the ship's manifest with the intent to submit same to defraud investors. It now looks like a simple matter of time until the Feds come down with indictments. The Affidavit for the search warrant of Brook's home was just made public last Thursday, August 26, 2015, and lists several possible federal crimes including: 18 USC (United States Code) 1343 Wire Fraud; 18 USC 1001 False Statements (to Federal Investigators); and 18 USC 508 Forgery of Ships' Papers. State criminal charges possibly including securities fraud might also be forthcoming.

This type of activity hurts everyone and is just the latest black eye for treasure hunting activities around the world, making greater regulation and restrictions more likely, giving the UNESCO crowd more anecdotes to ban our recreational activities. Way to go Greg and Ed!
