Well with all the crap going on about the Confederate flag, they might as well re-sink that sucker before somebody files a complaint. By the way, I have been saving all my Confederate money in preparation for the day when the South shall rise again! I have had just about all the political-correctness I can stand!

I wish they would show a picture of the cannon. Smithbrown do you have a pic of the other two cannons they recovered?

Just to add some prospective to the story , This is the Savannaha River today --- The container ships come up a narrow gap and turn to where the river passes River Street , as you can see it is very narrow there and all along the way The location of the wreck I beleive is just to the rear of the pictured ship about 1000 feet away by the statue of THE WAVING GIRL. From all the historical tours I have been on there that was the suspected location.
Looking at the picture where the people are standing was under water during the CW and was built up over the years from ships balast ect We are heading back there in Nov I will try to get some pictures of the location or the turn where it was suspected to be

The navy is doing a great job and money is no object as its just taxpayers dollars being used. The salvage of those artifacts will end up in a government warehouse for sure never to be see again. I wished the private sector could have done the work and if that happened those artifacts would have gone up for sale and auctioned off.
