Any guesses on what this could be? Found on beach and it is covered with micro size rocks measure approx 2-1/4" tall x 1/4" thick give or take depending on buildup

I have no clue but gotta tell you Lake Michigan hasn't been nice to me this year. I've found six rings only one gold but none of them in Lake Michigan. I usually go to New Buffalo, Weko Beach, or Warren Dunes on Lake Michigan. Where are you at?

Can anyone tell me if the fact that it is coated with pebbles/sand and from fresh water (Lake Michigan) if this would indicate it being very old.

I know very little about the great lakes region and your social anthropology, but that looks to me like a religious icon - perhaps from an inbound settler, perhaps a shipwreck victim.

Just spit-balling here....

Edit: Looks like a saint on a rearing horse or a mule. Perhaps a piece from a candle or something orthodox to hang from a mantle or set on a shelf.

agree - just trying to figure out if it is old or really old being fossilized
