The problem with an aqua scan mag is that they are very inconsistent ,unreliable and basically a toy. With that being said. All proton mags that are working properly should have the same detection range. You can go to the Geometrics website and they have a list of iron, steel objects and their detection ranges .You must remember it's the man behind the mag.

The dx200 is a fluxgate mag, not a proton mag. Target size is a huge variable, but realistically something like a 10 pound cannonball might be detectable at a few feet.

I have a Aquapulse mag that was a prototype for the DX 200/300 line.It has a 4 prong connector on a 44 inch probe and was packaged in the AQ1B cannister. It was working for a while and then quit. It could detect a iron cannonball at about 10 feet. It wasn't in the water when it stopped so I think it's a component on the circuit board or a switch. I had the battery replaced but it now won't take a charge so I think it may be the switch causing a open circuit. Does anyone know anybody who works on these? Here's some pics.

I talked with Joel Ruth at the Bob Marx lecture about it. Joel gave me some leads too. Turns out this unit was developed by Bob Williams of Aqua Scan in the UK. I'm headed to NC for a week or so. When I get back I'll look in to it. How's your AquaSound doing?

Yep, you need Bob Williams as Joel said, www.aquascan.uk is a good starting point or PM me if you need. I've worked on DX-200's but that one is way different, cool prototype though.
