I often find awsome pieces of wrecks while beach combing in the mangroves. If I can get them home, I take them and preserve them for display. Often times ill make furniture from them if they are the right shape and size. This piece was preserved in the swamp mud nicely, and I had to retrieve it. It is extremely heavy hard wood and is filled with hundreds of brass/bronze fasteners. It has been repeatedly soaked and washed with fresh water and is finally ready for oiling and hanging on my porch. Possibly the round holes were belaying pins, not sure ? Anyway I thought I would share it with you guys. It has a lot of character, and I thought it was pretty cool

Id be happy if those guys in coconut grove gave me 500$. I do enjoy making the furniture, once I see the piece in the mangroves I already have a pretty good idea what I want to make out of it. It flashes in my head before I even lay my hands on it. Just has to be strong. Ive sold a few pieces already. photo-114.JPG

I detect the history: I've visited archives up & down the entire US East Coast, Bahamas, Jamaica, Kew, The Hague, etc. Have yet to go to Seville or S.American archives.
