I know that this is a little off the subject...
Just wondering how much investment is it going to involve to conduct the deep water salvage operation off Columbia ?
Will it be done with sub's and robots ...or deep water divers using rebreathers ?
I know it ain't gonna be cheap...
And then there's always the jumbo Humbolt squids ...

The originator's proposal includes a sophisticated ROV recovery plan. The hull itself will be left on the ocean floor. Estimates that I heard run north of $10M (including preservation of all items recovered from the ocean floor).

$10 Million seems pretty low for that amount of work. (SSA claims to have already spent $12 Million) The rest of the money has to come from somewhere. The ROVs and equipment arent cheap and dont last that long under those conditions. They must be including a pretty good percentage to make it up.

Leaving the hull is interesting, working around the hull will be even more interesting.

That is just at the limits of the common 200 sat chambers, but there are 300's out there, but crewing is tough. That would be an interesting proposal.
