Carib crew 2019 finds

Recently the crew aboard the Search and Salvage vessel Carib has been very fortunate to have found a nice group of coins and artifacts.
Please remember that none of this is what "I" did. I am just their enabler. They do all the hard work on a little boat in a big, big ocean. I just coast around and make sure they have what they need.
Captain Kym and the crew of the Carib have been excavating on the Cabin wreck for 2 and half years. Before that, Kym and Bill Moore ran the Royal 8 for a couple of years and worked the same wreck. Today was the day all that hard work and hardheadedness paid off with One Good Hole! 2 years ago I plotted the numbers of a silver platter that Mike Penninger and his crew had found in 1994 on our mapping software and we just never got around to digging it. Today we dug it and look what happened!!!
42 really nice eight reals (one of which may be something REALLY special) 2 one reales, a big EO that we think has one or more coins in it and a couple of nice pieces of pottery IN ONE HOLE!!
Congratulations to Captain Kym, Capt Mike Penninger, Jeff Harness, Maryellen Twitchell, Richard Rabon and Special Guest Star Andrew Tidball. Also thanks to John Brandon, 1715 Fleet - Queen's Jewels and all the other subcontractors who make this such a great experience for all.

On July 18, 2019 the crew of the Carib made a spectacular find...45 coins and a very rare piece of a 1715 pie crimper (who ever woulda thought of that one?) from the 1715 Fleet disaster in one hole.
It was a great job by a team of great people on that little boat.
Captain Kym A Ferrell - my partner, and very good friend. Kym has been undergoing cancer treatments for over 6 years. Absolutely the toughest and kindest person I know. He's swam and dug and surveyed and dredged all over the place for 50 years A damned fine boat captain, treasure hunter and trainer of crews. He's taught me a lot but I still have more to learn..
Mike Penninger - our own retired rocket scientist, cheerleader and head musician, the guy that is first in the hole and the last to pay for a drink, works hard and doesn't complain...much. He's the guy that was in the hole when the first of these coins appeared.
Jeff Harness - this guy retired, packed up his life and moved to the area to work on the Carib. A good hand wherever you put him and a great team player.
Andrew Tidball - Andrew is a retired Marine helo pilot/ friend who took some time off from working in North Dakota as a Medevac pilot to come help for a few days..and boy did he pick the right day...
Richard Rabon our good friend and highly experienced historian who works every day on the deck. Always cheerful, never shirks a task and doesn't eat much - (ideal crew guy)
MaryEllen Twichell has worked every possible day this summer...(she moved to Micco to dive with us for the summer)..but was otherwis engaged on the 18th. She's been a great crew member and could be the next one to score a coin!
and yes...I know this was not a 5 million dollar find with Royals and escudos and things heretofore unseen by modern man, but it's the best one we've seen up close for a good while and I am very proud of the crew of the Carib and very grateful to them, 1715 Fleet- Queen's Jewels and all the people who have helped us do what we do by helping with dollars, doughnuts, gear, buying t-shirts and maybe hitting the "like" button. You are all a big help and doing these Facebook postings are just my way of letting everyone have a little piece of our dream.

One more time...On July 27, 2019 Jeff Harness recovered this pretty teardrop one reale from the Cabin site. Jeff's first coin find, but I bet it won't be his last. He also recovered a BIG chunk of an olive jar

Another day, another awesome find for my friends on the little green boat with the big old blower in the back...The Carib Crew scored again for Search and Salvage and Caribbean Treasure Salvors LLC.
This is a great 1715 artifact, IMHO...A really nice, chunky 8 reale coin concreted to a lovely chunk of Treasure Coast rock!
MaryEllen Twichell wrested this beauty from it's watery resting places somewhere on the Cabin Wreck this afternoon.
Great job by the whole crew, from Captain Kym who parked the boat on the right spot, all the way through....You folks are a great team. I appreciate all that you do and we have MUCH more to find this year and in years to come.

ANOTHER GOOD DAY!

Our friend Bill Perkins came up from his home in Roatan to dive with the crew of the Carib for 3 weeks.
He's been a great student and w2as already an accomplished detectorist and diver
He sure did a fine job today...His first treasure coin and is smaller than a dime./ While it may not be as romantic as a "piece of 8" or 8 reale the fact that he found it concreted to the seabed is a testament to his skill with a metal detector..and it's a cool little coin!

Is Rabon a marine archaeologist, or a maritime archaeologist, or what sort of decreed archaeologist??

Where it matters, or perhaps prompted the question, is on who is identifying the artefacts and the provenance.

I may have mistyped, it was late and I wanted to get this posted on TNet
...I will check with Richard as to his credentials. I could be wrong...so...historian and amateur archaeologist it will be until I check on the veracity of what a third party told me a couple of years ago. He is quite knowledgeable and a great asset aboard the boat every day....which is much more useful on a day to day basis than any upper level degree.
Robert Westrick is, of course, the archaeologist for Queen's Jewels and gets high res photos of our finds as soon as I take them. Of course, he inspects all the artifacts at the end of the year. I talk to Rob pretty much every week.
The pie crust crimper/jigger/pastry wheel was identified by a pastry chef....and confirmed by any number of imagines on Google as well as this book on the subject:

No need to start throwing things, people...

EVERYTHING that any subcontractor finds is tagged, secured and given into the custody of 1715 Fleet- Queen's Jewels. The company does all conservation and identification work with their archaeologist, Mr Westrick. The State of Florida then inspects and studies the year's recoveries and lends their expertise to the story. Nothing that any of us think makes a bit of difference as to the official evaluation of the artifacts, so the education of the crew is completely irrelevant as to the final eval of the materials.

When one searches the word archeologist the returns of definitions are all virtually started with, a person who studies, the study of....

The definition is not a person with a degree....

The group makes the rules, but where are the checks and balances on the group's ethics, etc?

But I digress...a couple of interesting finds from the Cabin site:
The first is silver...part of a ...what?
The second is an eight reale...nice and chunky coin.
