in dutch is written … here are the remains of the 1715 silver fleet anno ordo (Ao) 1715 --this is the wreckage reported by salmon of the 2 "missing vessels" whose wreckage was reportedly found on the "north coast of St Augustine" note the wreckage is a bit to the south of st Augustine however the debris was washed up northward on the southern end of of Anastasia island by the north bound hurricane winds

Ivan, no worries..it happens to us all one time or another.

I'm in no position to ever pursue such an adventure, but it does
sound exciting.

More evidence.

I was hoping to see the map. I love seeing how they drew the coastline compared to the accuracy of today's maps.

Thanks, Ivan and Darren. Really interesting to have corroboration like that.

Is that the ship at the mouth of the Matanzas on Darren's map.

Very cool- I like to see the sharing of maps and information, even from my armchair approach! I'll keep an eye out for more info on this one and post if I find anything.

Cheers;

That is exactly what I am speaking of .. this map was made a mere 13 years after the 1715 shipwrecks .. often Dutch ships ‘fished’ treasure shipwrecks with grapple hooks to snag chests of treasure .. in salmons sept 20th 1715 to the king he noted .. of the 2 missing gallone’s there is little doubt that they sank on the high seas because wreckage of a large vessel or vessels was found on the north shore of st Augustine

noted I shared this info with dr lyons at the last cook out ...he was quite interested to say the least...

this is my public gift to my 1715 fleet ship salvaging friends----now that the lord has seen fit to spare me for a bit longer --- I think a thank you offering is fitting --enjoy ---so much info so few buyers of it ...LOL how am I ever to hit it rich? a book maybe or film?

Don't sell it cheap then. Get at least $29.95 for it!

sadly for my researching efforts --I have had 2 paying folks ---one wanted info on a 1813 map that has a ships name on its edging --(he thought it marked a "missing shipwreck" * )--in fact it was a sailing chart of a HMS ship from its stock of maps --the name on the edge was in fact the "ship" ---that was a fast solve that saved thousands of dollars --got paid a nice bottle of rum worth oh 50 bucks ---the second one was research of a vessel to help find it "location" for folks setting up to look for it ---my research in 3 days found that said vessel had indeed already been found and claimed --in waters that no longer allow for salvage of vessels sadly --again saved thousands -- I got paid $125 and I sent them a book by frank l. Hudson as a gift

good research is worth a lot and saves a lot of time and money when searching but sadly folks don't want to pony up the cash for it

for the right price I got LOTS of info on many valuable wrecks but its not free :BangHead:

Although it makes reference / states in Dutch that "the silver Fleet" is there... this map has a "history" / "more story" than meets the eye... with several theory's amongst us mappers.

It has been "written off" by some of us long ago as "bad relayed info".

It in fact DOES state correctly "the info"... just "bad info" as far as "exact location". heh

PS...

Cartography has so many facets that elude most experts... and always has.

It is not a science... it is an art and skill that can "solve" the riddles encrypted onto parchments of the past.

IMO... of course :)
