Hello everyone...

I haven't posted much lately, getting back to work and into the water quite often.
Two of the other commercial guys I work with came up with a few nice finds, in the area we were working. I put them on to a spot where an old schooner sank, covered with deep mud, but Chris found a nice big "deadeye" and a few hundred feet from this, he found a "crucible"... also very nice.

Not wanting to be outdone, commercial diver Lauren found a wheel made of lignum vitae "Ironwood" which measures 17" in diameter, 6.5" thick with a 7" hole in the center... weighs about 60lbs. Any idea what it was used for? Wheel from a cannon's cart? :icon_scratch:

Enjoy the photos and let me know what you think,
Wayne

lignum vitae is some pretty cool wood. it sounds like it is a possibility of a carriage truck. lignum vitae was used in places like a bearing since it withstood abrasion well.

very cool finds, thanks for sharing.

Great finds.

I have to tell you, if I knew a million dollars in gold ws 50 feet below my ship up there I wouldn't go in that cold water, lol. I'm actually know as tough down here because I don't wear a wet suit and dive all winter when it is a freezing 74 degrees. brrrrr

:)
