How Do I aknow It's Silver

This old picture frame looks like silver. There are no markings anywhere. How can I tell?

If you go to a local blacksmith, they can use a chemical on the frame which can tell them what kind of material the frame is made out of. I hope that helps.

In old buildings in Chicago,old electrical boxes had silver bars,we knew if they were silver because you could touch it to your tongue and taste the silver.I think we can taste copper,cast iron and steel.

It is very difficult to find that whether it is Silver or not. First of all you have to concern a relevant person which have a much knowledge of Silver or Gold. You have to take an expert advice in this matter.

Probably silver plated. If sterling it would have been marked as such either with word sterling, 925, or other hallmark like the lion the British used.
