Haven't really tried this other than with water hose. Does anyone have any suggestions. It weighs about 40 lbs

I am curious, what are the dimensions of your sluice? 40lbs is ridiculously heavy for a steam sluice. My 42" x 7" sluice weighs about five pounds soaking wet. It is made of wood though.

8*40 but it's 3/8 in thick I know it has no need to be made out of that but it was originally a square light post
I welded the insert with the riffles but don't know if there the right angles but I'm ganna be using it here

This is a 6×24 sluice I use to process beach sand, one 48 oz. peanut butter jar full at a time.

Well at least you probably wont have to pile rocks on it to stay put.

You could use it to pry up railroad spikes or as a substitute guillotine blade. Its about thirty seven lbs heavier than I like to carry. Definitely go with thinner material on the next one.

Here is my home made sluice with 10" Dream Mat in it.

I haven't tested it out at all but its my first sluice so I'm sure it will be a million times better then hand panning everything which is what I have been doing.
