No prob AU, hope your foot is all good for the weekend buddy!
Goldwasher and I went out to the property this last Monday. Planned to highbank but GW's pump intake was MIA... We found more good looking slate to work in the flood channel and ran our bazookas. No pickers this time but we both got some decent color for the amount we dug. We took a look at the mine.. A squatter had abandoned camp on a flat spot in front of the mine so we cleaned it up and hauled a bunch of crap back across the river so Charlie (landowner) could get rid of it. Appreciate you helping out with that GW.. Charlie was stoked we took care of that for him.. Glad you got to check the place out and get some digging in. Thanks again GW.. awesome day:occasion14:

how far back does that shaft go? i remember going to see my grandfather in KY where my dad grew up as a coal miner. The mine was still there and as a kid we used to play in it (prolly not such a great idea...) the opening was about that size and went back about 7 or 8 feet and opened into a huge room. the room was about 15' wide and 25' deep to follow the coal seam.

Such a sweet spot Charlie is awesome for letting us dig there. I will move anything he wants....He said that that goes back 66 feet. It was really solid looking the Portal needs some loose slate removed. There are more in the area and some interesting history. That river is known for its plentiful flour gold not to mention its crossing the mineralized zone repeatedly so nuggets and pickers are to be had as well. Good day except I felt a cold coming on after a ridiculous work week she got me..I had to go dig of course8-) Looking forward to digging more......total bummer some moron forgot to put the intake hose in the truck.

Question about bedrock. Although it would be illegal if i ever did such a thing.... (dont judge!) at sweetwater state park, there is TONS of exposed bedrock and such. all of it seems to be washed clean though. i see some perfect circular depresions every now and then with a table spoon of sand in it but thats about all i ever find. is it worth collecting? (uhhh hypothetical ofcourse.... :laughing7:)

AU.. Easily a pleasure for a guy as grateful as yourself.. Shorts pockets full of cosumnes gold in store for you!..

TGP, thanks!

Charlie said the mine is dry and there's an old ore cart inside. Thoughts to scrape and vac mine floors and cart if or when safe to go in. He also said there's another mine that goes back 100 yards on the other side of the same hill...

ORE CART..........obviously left for good luck in future auronautical endeavors...and a clue to how under explored this area is....ore carts don't last to long in the wild before they are carried off.

I agree that boil holes usually don't hold anything but sometimes they do! However, never do any collecting or prospecting in a State Park unless you know that this activity is allowed. Know the rules!

GW.. All the un touched bedrock, couple pickers AU and I found and number of small old targets you dug with the GBpro in a few minutes said a lot.. The cart still in the mine says it all:goldpan::headbang:
AU, you can ride in the cart all you want... After we get it to my house!..lol
