A buddy and I went to Whisky run today and what an incredible day on the beach.... ITWAS HOT and calm.
Don't know what the take is yet ... It was kinda hard work because we had to classify all the material in a bucket as we can't use any power on the Oregon beaches...
I think I moved about 5 buckets today ... i'll probably do the cleanup tomorrow and will post the results.

While I wait for the fines to finish drying here is a pleasant surprise out of my cleanup.....
2 pickers.
There was also a fair bit of platinum in the mix.

.485 gram.. without the pickers..... BUT there is some really fine non magnetics that I just couldn't get panned out. So I'm gonna say there is probably half that weight is good stuff and the other will just get glassed in the smelt....
That super fine black material is just a mother to try and separate........ but all things are cleansed with fire,....LOL
Not a very good image and the impurities kinda hide the good stuff....

But like I said it will all cleanup with the burnout.........
So just added it to the little but of other beach sand and will do a melt soon.

OK, Got the beach gold Boraxed ....
Not as nice a pour as the first button and there is still gold left in the melt dish but I will redo the melt and collect it later.

Winter storm and a day to stay off the beach.

We are also having what are called king tides this weekend. They are the seasonal high tides and today it is 8.7 feet and with the storm conditions the surf is even bigger.

They say we are having 30 foot seas and that looks about right.

This is the kind of conditions that get the beaches ready to mine. The storm and high surf clean off the light materials and consolidate the heavies.

Nice shot of one of our favorite beaches :) I showed it to Karen and she remembered that we were there last year during the snow storm.

Hey Reed.
Good to hear from ya. Hope you two had a great holiday,

Yeah the tides and surf were pretty amazing.
Hope to get out again in a couple weeks.... Will see how I feel and what the conditions are like.

Take it easy and let us know when you'll be back in the area.

Maybe we can plan a trip to cape disappointment.

I would like to make a trip to Washington this winter and or early spring, but not sure of the rona restrictions up there. The ocean has been mostly angry for the last two months which of course will rearrange the beach in our favor. Stormy today and twenty foot swells again by this weekend. I need some cons to play with!
