Not the first time up there. Just the first time up there for prospecting.

So I got my friend to go out with me, as I'm trying to get him interested in Prospecting.
We went as far as HE could which was about 1.5 mi up into the canyon.
Had my Royal folding sluice and all related gear. Found a real nice place to call camp for the day.

Week days are the only way to go up there.
But even being a Monday, there was quite a bit of traffic. Most were heading up to the bridge for a hike.
Very Hot day, but with shade and plenty of water, we were fine.

Bottom line, we came out of there with some color - so no skunk :hello2:
Probably about 20 buckets worth.
Even though I made recommendations to my friend as far as good places to dig, he bounced around a lot.
That's fine, but it made it hard to keep track of what dirt came from where.
a couple clean outs were blank. and a few showed color.

I have yet to go thru my cons (tonight after work).

After this trip, I am really considering looking into a smaller Bazooka Sluice.
I think it would be perfect for sampling.
Easier to set up and run some quick material. No classifying.
If empty, easy to pick up and move on to the next spot.
Then you can come back with the bigger equipment and move some material.

I need to go up on my own again soon with my Metal detector too.

Beautiful day. Got out of work. Got some color.
Great day in my book.

I'll post some pics once I get it cleaned.

Cheers!

Couldn't wait, so went home for lunch and panned them out.
I won't be writing home about this, but I will accept it thankfully.

Nice gold, glad you had a nice trip.

I have read EVERY thread about the EF and watched about 15 videos from there. Just trying to be informed as possible before I bring my boys up there for our first time prospecting.

And I am undecided.

Weekends are the only option since I work Mon-Fri 60-80 hours a week. Am thinking of hitting it early. There by 6:30am or 7.

But all the negative stuff has me thinking of taking the boys elsewhere.
We don't need to find gold, that would be a bonus, we just want to have some fun in a safe environment.
They are only 5 and 7 so they don't need to be exposed to meth heads, homeless and gangsters just yet.

Still undecided.

I was there today and have been and go very often. You won't have to worry about those things up there. I took my 21 month daughter today. She found her first gold flake. If you want some more info send me a pm. You can dig in my hole and find some gold for your kids!
Heavy pans.

Don't over think that too much Rookie.
It's not as bad as some people make it out to be.
More GOOD people up there, than bad.

You don't need to walk all that far either.
I was talking to one guy while up there and he mentioned that he just went straight down to the water from the parking area and got some good color. Take the kids and have fun.
Go early to get a parking spot though!!
Weekends get PACKED.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice. We are definitely headed up there.

The other threads scared me a little with all the stories but that ain't gonna stop us.
The boys are super excited.

Just FYI to anyone who gives two sh!ts and a giggle...
This is the Camera I used for the close ups.
It's not the best. There are higher quality versions out there I'm sure.
But it sure is neat to get in close and see the real beauty of even little flakes.
Great for looking up your nostril too.
Fortunately the one I have was purchased thru work

Man I wish I had my Bazooka and could go up too.
My Sniper is on order, but spoke to a Gentleman there who said there were backlogged and they might get it out next week. Oh well.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
