I forgot to mention that the flare's opening length is of 13". I just want it to be longer, say 8-10" long. I think it would help stratify the material more eficiently.

You create your own buy building a "wing dam". You can use river rocks, stakes, timber, plastic tarps, or any combination there of.

If you have a sheet metal fabricator near you, have them bend one up for you.
I made the flare on my boxes to be 12" long to load easier with a shovel. The local shop I use charges a few dollars over the price of material. And since they often use the scraps from there other projects, they will give me a break on that as well.

Jajaja design mode on. I think I'll do it myself. Notice the stock flare, the new one will be a lot better I think! Of course this is the first step! Now to buy the aluminum!

If your goal is to increase water volume and velocity into the sluice, Just widening and not increasing length could actually hinder you. If you widen the flair, i suggest lengthening as well.

I must concur with Ducky on this one, flair IMO, at 5" is pretty short.. I'd go almost 10-12", plus that allows for more stratification of the material

Thats what I'm talking about! I mean it works but if the flare was longer by say 5 more inches, I say it'll be perfect. Again, I don't want to increase flow or volume, just to help the stratification process.
