Sluice conversions how can I make recirculating?!

I have two sluices, this unit is one I am experimenting with.
I’m wondering how I could feed it with a water supply. It’s cheapie thin metal and now has vortex matting. So far my 5 gallon bucket idea only works with my other sluice and running it half down the expiremental sluice..
Suggestions or tips? Would like to make it a removable add on. And run like a regular sluice should want to. Also this is my expiremental unit.
But would like to run this as a recirculating.

I tried the bucket on this sluice alone. But the sluice is same width end to end no flare width.
Didn’t fit well at all without flow back.

Interesting looks like you cut a notch in the box?
How’s it not leaking a lot of water under the sluice on that side?
I like this idea though, anything is better than nothing which I have now with this experimental sluice.

Yeh, i notched the tub with the sluice profile.

The sides fit tight enough not to leak, but the bottom needed help, added a couple lengths of 1/4 inch weatherstrip to the botton of the sluice and some clamps to squish it all together.

Just for more intel, thats a shower drain in the side of the box, i used it to adapt a 3700gph sump pump to it. 3700 gph caused a lot of turbulence, and wierd flow. It also filled the box faster than it drained out, so i had some overflow. I found i was valving the flow down a lot. I switched to an 1100gph bilge, it all seems happy now, and the size is getting more portable.

Might not be perfect, but that's the way this podunk done it, and it works. I got gold where they said I couldn't

I dont have any pictures of my current set up but it works great. I'll do my best to describe it and post some pictures later.

Looking at your pictures, here is what I suggest. First, you need to invest in a legitimate sluice stand or build your own. I recently lost my sluice stand. Rather than paying $70 or more for a new sluice stand, I purchased some 1/2" and 3/4" steel electrical conduit. 1/2" for the frame and legs, 3/4" for the leg guides. I used some large flat washers for the foot pads. Welded it all together and it works great for less than $20. I used self tapping 1/4" screws to drill the leg guides then used 1/4" thumb screws for tighteners.

Second, I use two tubs like the tub in your pic, a 5 gal bucket, and some 4" triple wall drain pipe and fittings. My sluice drains into the 5 gal bucket inside tub 1. The water overflows the bucket into tub 1 and is siphoned through the 4" PVC into tub 2. I use the bucket so I don't have to muck out the tubs. 4 elbows and two straight lenths straddle the edges between tub 1 and tub 2 (there is a video on YouTube for this). I have a longer length of PVC in tub 2 than tub 1. I believe this aids in the siphoning. In tub 2, I have a Harbor Freight Sump Pump (rated at 2600 GPH) that runs off 110 (powered by Honda EU2000I generator). From there, I use 8' of 1 1/2" pool hose (Blue hose with black inner lining) to move the water from tub 2 to the powerhead on the sluice. Pool hose is perfect because it is cheap. Cut the ends off that come with the hose. I use a 1 1/4" threaded PVC adapter and a hose clamp at each end. The treaded adapter, with a little elbow grease, will twist into the hose.

I used a laundry soap bucket with a piece of rubber to spread out the water,
I've since changed the riffles out to Goldhog washer mats.

And here is a recirculating system a guy put together with 3 tubs, the 3rd tub just helps keep your water cleaner and of course adds capacity to your system.

There are a number of improvements that could be made on the configuration but it gives you some ideas and starting points.

Where did you get the connecting hardware hose wise?
Also is that pool hose?
This seems like one that would fit the end on my flared sluice

I use 2000 GPH pump. Not sure if that'd be enough for your set up. Although, more experienced sluicers in this forum would have a better perspective.
