Found a rock fairly large with a grayish blue x painted on it I also see an arrow or two painted to the x and some other markings I can't quite make out. It was in the middle of the woods with nothing obvious around. And clues as the what it could mean? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504473469.418949.jpg

Indian graffiti? I don't believe so as there are hundreds of rock outcroppings everywhere and I've seen no sign of painting or marking any other stones or rocks. I've found a lot of glazed pottery sherds. The x is what gets me because it's the sort of x you see on treasure maps. A little cliche I know.

Confederate treasure mark ???? If you haven't already checked im sure you will. Document everything before you disturb it. Alignment of the stone in relation to its surroundings could be very important. Stand by the stone with a compass and orient yourself to true north and take pics to document orientation. It could be one of a number of markers. Other marks could be hidden in the surroundings so take your time and be thorough in your searching. If it is something significant than even the stone itself could hold value.
