    1715 Fleet 8 Reales (CH)...after cleaning

    Well,

Sometimes cobs are best to be left in orgional condition...was hoping this one would come out in better condition...but sometimes they just don't.
It still is a fantastic find of a very hard to find assayer...the 3 halves that were also found faired about the same.

My father gets credit for this piece...he found 2 pieces and found 2 pieces.
I worked another beach for the first part of the morning, drove to another area where I saw my father pull up...
He called me an hour later with his find, said he first tone wasn't blasting, took him 3 scoops and out she came......he did very well that day.
The "CH" was a single year minted cob 1697, he apparantly was just at the mint temporarily for that year.

Nice find Trez and great story. The CH is very clear.
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Awesome find I was wondering, is there any way to have cobs come out "smoother" after eletrolysis?

Electrolysis cannot replace the metal that has been eaten away (pitted) from corrosion.
