Reproduction Spanish Cob? What can you tell me about it?

Found in a coin collection I inherited. I know it is not real (at least I don't think so), but it is still interesting. Anyone know anything about the markings (potent cross, etc.)?

A very odd rendering. Not much more than a cross to go on, but the other side shows the pillar and waves design that was used in the Peruvian mints of Lima and Potosi from mid-1600's on up through the late 1700's. You can read part of the word "Peru" on the pillar side in the upper left corner. Not much else to go on for narrowing down the year. The striped pillars are one of the really odd looking features. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, the denomination being copied is probably 8 reales.

It's silver? Is that the correct color? Doesn't look authentic to me from those pics, not to mention it's like nothing I remember ever seeing. 2nd pic... it's pretty odd for a coin like that to have so much detail on near 100% of the surface. Just seems like everything is a little bit too good. Also on the second pic it looks like some type of plating has worn off the corners.

They did a good job on the edges, shame about the rest.

Thanks for the help! The base seems to be a silver color, plated in something with a gold color (but not sure if it is gold plating or some other metal) and then tarnished. I knew it was a fake but I'm still interested as it was just a weird thing to show up in a little box of silver peace dollars from 1922 and 1923, and the markings are bizarre. My kids keep asking me and one day it would be nice to have an answer! I will keep looking in Lima, Peru collections to see if I can figure it out. Love this site. You guys should have a TV show like "Pawn Stars" on the History Channel, where people bring you their "finds" and you tell them if they are real/fake, give some history, etc.
