Need info on Sebastion Inlet please.

Hi;

Wasn't sure where to post this request so if I'm intruding please excuse. Assumed with this subject forum that there would be folks here familiar with Sebastion Inlet. I am kicking around the idea of a Fall trip to an area where my wife could fish from a pier and where I could metal detect from the beach with the hopes of trying to scare up a coin from the treasure fleet. When I tried it about 15 years ago the dunes and surf were a no no but the beach was still ok. Not sure if that is changed.

I was hoping to get recommendations as to a spot to try that has a pier for the wife and and area that detecting is legal. Please feel free to pm me.

Nothing has changed as far as the rules. You can still detect the beaches on the north or south side of the inlet. However, there is probably still too much sand on the beaches there to find any of the old stuff.

Yes, a lot has changed in 15 years. They have filled the beaches with trashy sand, pumped it and dump trucked it, all along the whole coast. And this year it has mainly built up naturally. Not washed away. But enjoy your vacation, weather has been getting very warm early, and the water is getting nice. You could also check public beaches like Indiatlantic or any public access near Melborne, as spring break is going on and you can water detect up there for modern jewelry. I think you can, right Tom? No leases, or is there at Melborne?

Heartland Treasure Quest (Rex Stocker) had a lease off Indialantic/Mellbourne Beach in the area of Spessard Holland park. I am not sure if that is still active.

Thanks guys and thanks for the link Tom. Every fall I normally take a few days off from work to go fishing with the wife along the coast in NC but thought why not do it this year along the treasure coast where the wife could fish and I had a chance to possibly dig something from the 1715 fleet. I'm not really set up for in the surf hunting and was going to try to work just the beach with my F75 LTD. I would have my 1280X along in case I wanted to get into the ankle deep areas where it is legal.

Sad to hear about all the sand being dumped there. Who knows, maybe I can catch it after a storm has passed through and cut some sand. Now I just need to research where all the fishing piers are located there.

Not many peirs there... but don't discount surf fishing... on a side not i hear our governer in an effort to save money is laying off the beach renoursihmint... let the owners pay for it...

Yesterday I was looking at some Sebastion Inlet Park links and saw something recently listed about a pier project for Sebastion. If true unlikely anything up by this fall for me, but still good news for fishermen.

Their are jetties at Sebastian Inlet, and at Canaveral inlet, just North of Cocoa Beach. Piers, no. Until you get down the coast farther. I know Juno Beach has a pier and farther down there is a couple. Jetties at Jupiter, Lake Worth inlet in Palm Beach.
