Has any one ever heard of brass or copper cobbs

I just picked some up on ebay that were Dug in spain only one has a readable date 1685 There was old clay really caked on them And the one that i cleaned with a electrolisis machine (that is the one with a date on it it went shiny copperish)
does this sound familiar I did not pay very much at all for them about a dollar each My camera lost the battle with my dogs so as of now no new pictures for a while Any ideas
    Thanks

    Joe,
The coins...the size of 1/2 and 1 reales?
They are called Maravedis...I think next to silver reales or gold escudos, are my favorite coins to collect.

    Joe,
That depends on many of the same qualities that cobs use as far as determining value...
Mint, Year, denomination, Quality of strike, etc...whether it has been heavily cleaned .
    But, overall...the demand is low.
Try to find rare dates, mints, etc...and this will help.

    J@J salvors,
The $ sign really shows up BIG TIME on th 2nd coin to the right. I would think this coin would be a real collectors item.
    Great collection.

    QUESTION:
I was reading somewhere that the same dies were used for both gold and silver.
    Is this correct?
