I just received my first cob today.

I purchased a COA grade 1 4 reale for $ 600.

The coin looks authentic but Im not sure how to tell for sure.

Here is a link to the site and coin I purchased.

Has anyone heard of this company ?

I have the dot matrix card in the coin holder. The cert is stamped but not very legible.

Does this seem like a fair price for a coin this clear ?

It looks good, except for the part where you stated that you paid $600!!!! Is that right? I know that most ( a majority at the very least) cobs found at that point, the motherload, were beaten to death with hardened steel needle bearings and ruined. A terrible thing to do. I guess a few didnt? They should have just cleaned the whole bunch the regular way and they would have had some nice stuff. They really jacked the price way above anything prior. I would have thought they were going for much less. But yours is a nice coin. Not beaten up by the steel needle bearings.

cpc - you got your opinion from Realeswatcher on ColonialCobs. The majority of experts here on TNet are active participants on ColonialCobs. As most will attest, Realeswatcher's opinion carries a lot of weight.

Figured I would check both sites.. I assumed most members were in both forums.

I appreciate any insight.

Buying a coin of this caliber always requires considerable due diligence prior to purchasing by smart investors.

However, the value is whatever the market will bear.

It's a nice coin but I think you paid too much for it. My wife and I bought a 4 Reale from spain 1623 and we paid 250 for it.We bought it in sandiego on va k.
