Haha.. actually repeatedly wiping on and rinsing a muriatic acid and water mixture...then silver polish.
I'm attempting to leave them attached to the stone.
If that doesn't turn out.. electrolysis is next.
I have an update ...
I started on the smallest piece first as it seemed a bit different and I also figured if something went wrong..better the small one.
Well..it just got a bit more interesting and probably difficult too.
This piece is starting to look like rosary or link to a delicate chain to me.
Brings tears to my eyes. Been Treasure hunting since 2005 and have never found a cobb. And now probably never will since my HA and CABG surgery no more scuba allowed for me nor combing the beach alone anymore according to my Cardiologist.
My diving bud and I had been trying t find the San Ignacio spillage down in Marathon every summer since 2005 and thought we were close with some of the latest iron scraps we were finding, but alas no more.
I am glad this forum exists, its still fun to see others make the finds knowing how it must feel.
Today is the day!!!
I sincerely apologize for the salt in the wound.. believe me I know how that is too.
Especially after giving a few tips to folks...then seeing what could have been my find come from my local haunts.
You only see my good fortune posted here..there is WAY MORE exhausting weeks and months with virtually nothing to show but sore muscles and depleted enthusiasm.
The idea that "today is the day" is truly what keeps us all going.
I hope you can figure out a way to swing your coil somewhere ...if your creative I bet you can.
By reading your post.... I bet you will.
Best of luck to you.
P.S. no more scuba for me either after doing a skydive with a stuffy head ... I ruptured an eardrum on the way down.
There is a whole other world down there that I miss dearly.
