Great Find !!!!! I found the almost exact coin at a Revolutionary site in upstate New York. Mine is dated 1719. I have a friend who works at The American Numismatic Society. I plan to see him one day next week. Will share the information with you ....

    Regards Simon....

    Great find!!

    Simon,

I live near several Rev. war sites. I am fairly new to detecting. Woud you mind telling me the conditions that you found yours in? i.e Field, wooded area, depth etc. Just curious to know what depth something like that could be found at.

    Thanks,
    J

If the field was plowed, it depends. I have pulled many Civil War relics and musketballs from the surface of plowed fields.

I haven't had time to go out and MD yet, it's still really cold here! I bought this and i just wanted to get opinions as to whether it was real or not and maybe who the assayer was?
