I'm in the need of your help with a thrift store find I made today. It came in a brittle yellow coin holder with a tag "XX292 8 Reales Mexico Mint 1733 Fleet "San Francisco" Craig Key, Fla" It weighs 18.6 grams with the 14 k gold (unmarked). So I guess I'm just trying to find out for sure what I have age, value and if the tag is right. Thanks to all of you who take the time to help.

Your '8' is about 31% underweight which will considerably knock down its value.
The price you will receive will depend in large part on the narrative 'spin' you use in marketing the coin.
Don...

To add to Don statement, It holds no numismatic value to a collector. It's details have been severely degraded. 1733 Fleet material is readily available on the market that a collector would not have to settle for a specimen. With it being underweight, it's only value would be as a jewelry piece. The details that confirms the tag are that it is indeed from the Mexico Mint and the partial date of x73x.

You have $30 in gold. I would estimate the value on the cob at $75. With a partial date and gold mount, I could see $100 - $125 (with some strong marketing).

Diver I popped it out of the mount to check the weight . The gold is 5.4 grams which is about $123 as of this morning. So if the cob goes $75 I'm looking at $225-$250 maybe. That would be cool:laughing7:
