Hi Cob Experts,

This cob was found this past weekend at a Spanish colonial site in Colombia. Looks to be the size of a 1/2 real. Any idea of the origin/approximate date? Thank-you in advance!

Just weighed this cob- exactly 1.6 grams, which seems to indicate a 1/2 reale.

You know a heck of a lot more about cobs than I do, Machaydon, but I tend to lean toward your first guess, the Philip V since it's dates perfectly with the old settlement (it was populated from the mid/late 1600s to about 1872). Whereas the Philip II is 1500s, correct?

BTW,here's one of my favorites:

I first heard this in PV, MX in the mid 60s-- on a rainy night in a hacienda setting.
One trumpet player went overboard by standing in the street IN THE RAIN to do his part while the other one played from the kitchen.
Great memory; thanks,
Don...

Awesome! I love Mexico. I studied for a semester in Queretaro, Mexico in the early 1990s. Great colonial city. This was the big hit that summer:
