I'm sorry, but there isn't enough detail to discern an identification beyond saying that it isn't a Mexico City piece.

True. If made in the New World probably South American. Cannot get much from the pics, good pics though. Any other artifacts to possibly connect to this?

Thanks Steve. Yes, and all of the dateable ones I found at the site are 18th century-three clipped British coppers, a brass wax seal fob, saddle shield, flat buttons without back marks and pieces of shoe buckles. And of course plenty of square nails.

It's a half real from either Potosi or Lima. The bottom right of Carolvs is on the obverse, and because it is thick, it's looks more like the Lima variety from around 1695. The Potosi monagram letters tended to be skinnier, and the bottom of the l stuck out more from the s. It has a very typical 1690's type lion, and a die break appears by 1695 at Lima on the cross.

Because the ticking around the border appears square though, it's got to be Potosi. Lima used round dots.
