Arrh matey, if you be looking for caves and such, then the best would be around el malpais. I have one sitting behind my place in the national forest. Unfortunately, it has not been searched in at least 50 years, and due to the rattlesnakes, winter is about the only time to search.

good luck in your search,
HawkeyeJon

Lechuguilla Cave is in New Mexico. Helped explore it in the early 80's, third largest cave in America I believe. Might still be able to get on an exploration team there if you really want to push yourself, that is the only way to get into that cave. There are a ton of caves near Carlsbad Caverns, Lechuguilla is just one ravine away but there are dozens within a 30 mile radius as well. Big rooms with lots of speleothems. You won't have a hard time finding them if you really want to and you won't be disappointed with what you find. Have Fun!!!

It took the Discovery channel 2 years to get into Lech. Snowy river is the longest continuous gypsum formation the world. It is the cradle treasure hunting and was THE FIRST documented area to be prospected by Europeans in North America. If you are into caving there are undiscovered caves. I found 3 where I live and got to name them. The Land of Enchantment has so much to offer. I find pottery every time I leave my house. The difference is NM is sparsely populated, so there is a huge chance of finding stuff, and its dry so erosion is your friend.

Actually in Medowcroft, PA Archaeologists found a Clovis style point that predates the Clovis people coming to North America. Of corse, like the rest of our history, that isn't in the history books!

Stop it now. Everyone knows that New Mexico is known world wide for:
(1) New Mexican style enchiladas
(2) Don Julio tequila(not made there, just enjoyed there) I suggest a terrace in Santa Fe.
(3) Superhot Latinas
and if you are still a kid at heart visit Smokey Bear State Park in Capitan. Smokey is buried is sight of the mountain where he was found. By the way, all four make me cry:happysmiley:
