    found a old stamp in a old desk

    found a old liberty stamp in a old desk at goodwill. i lookes it up and its only worth 1.25 i looks like this but it isnt used

    Cool find! I don't know much about stamps, but when 1300 people read your post and nobody bothers to reply-that's kind of messed up. Maybe a side effect of the recent down time.

    The stamp was a common one 'back in the day'.
    What makes it remarkable is that yours was found in 'mint' condition; never 'stamped'.

    Here's a "side story" about that stamp . I met a fella on vacation in WY some years ago that had moved from NY to CA and made it real big in real estate . I later became friends with his son-in-law and found out that the guy was loaded . The beginning of the story is based on your find . He was working in a post office in the Bronx NY and thinking that he had no future there . He told me that at lunch he called his wife and basically told her "I'm puttin' in for vacation . We're gonna drive to CA and see what I can do there . I don't see any future standing here selling THREE CENT STAMPS all day long". The rest , at least for him , was history . Good find .
