In 1917, the New York postmaster found he had about 1,500 sheets of imperforate 2¢ stamps of the 1908 issue (U.S. #344). When he returned them for credit, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing had the stamps perforated and released for general sale. Most were used and destroyed before collectors learned of their existence – so they are very difficult to find now. Unlike other stamps made at the time on unwatermarked paper, U.S. #519 was produced on double-watermark paper.[/FONT]

Today, forgers attempt to create the scarcer #519 stamp by adding fake perforations to the more common U.S. #344.

My suggestion: Get it professionally authenticated; and good luck on it being authentic.

Thank you I will try to find somebody local to tell me if they can determine if they're fake or not and I will let you know when I find out
