The US mint is so anxious to get these coins into the hands of the public that they have a special program called the "Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program". You can buy a whole box of presidential coins for face value ($250). No premiums whatsoever. They even ship them to you for free!

I've wondered if buying a $250 box and selling them on eBay might net some decent profit. But when it's all said an done you are pretty much exchanging money at face value which is just a time sink. Unless of course, you are the Danbury Mint and don't mind cheating fools out of their money.
