Alcohol stoves are easy to make using aluminum drink cans. There are basically tow types, penny and Appalachian. The Appalachian uses an entire can to make on, whereas the penny stove requires two bottoms, so you will need two cans. They will burn any type of alcohol, ethanol or methanol fuel. I use HEET, in the yellow bottle mostly. It is a gas line antifreeze, methanol fuel. It will produce around 7,000 BTU's of heat for cooking or heating. With a fill up of 2 ounces the burn time is around 20 minute. They will boil a quart of water in about 4 minutes. They work great for hiking, camping or in an emergency situation, such as a hurricane, tornado, flood or power outage. You can simply set a small pot or can on top of them and start cooking. If you want to cook larger items, you can make a pot holder out of an old coat hanger that lets the larger pot or skillet sit above the heater. You can check them out on you tube. They give full instructions on how to make them. If you want even more heat, use denatured alcohol. it will produce 11,000 BTU's of heat. Good luck. rockhound
