Kinda looks like we have no off grid members here :(

Maybe they're so off grid they don't even come here!

on craigslist this morning there were directions for making a ZeerPot. It's a refrigerator made by putting a smaller bucket inside a larger one with sand packed around the smaller one with a little bit of water added. The larger bucket gets covered and the temp drops about 15 degrees in three hours. A good way to temporarily keep things cold.

I would like to be off the grid. I am only tied to electricity.
Is there a solar panel you can set up and just plug in to your home and offset the commercial electricity?

You can..although you have to have an inverter that it goes through so it is usable in the home...unless you have deep cell batteries that are charged by solar during the day, the solar would not work at night, of course

Solar works at night, if you have a battery bank to store it
