    Homemade headphones. Total cost for parts $21.55. (PICS)

    I got this tutorial from Sven of the MinelabMusketeer yahoo group and decided to give it a go. Some of the parts I already had in my junk pile. I had to buy the two audio taper A1K pots and hearing protection headset. I found both on feebay. The speakers I raped from an old trashed pair of AKG K240 headphones.These work great with my Musketeer. Fun project.

    Those are a really impressive looking pair of headphones! Don't think I've seen anyone attempt to fashion a pair before...
    Great job!!
    Now the question is, how do they stack up against other similar headphones?

    Rom. 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

    Rom. 10:10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

    They sound just like the Timberwolf Howlers I've been using with my Musketeer. For the most part the parts used are around the same as those used in $100+ set of headphones. You can buy hearing protectors which are the same exact shell of higher end headphones. These are 600 ohm speakers.

    way to go ! Allways thought that detecting headphones were overpriced. they charge what the market will stand, not what they're worth and us fool detectorists think if they are more expensive, they must be better.
    I have a pair of cordless 'phones that quite frankly are a bit flimsy but the freedom they offer is superb and I'm pretty sure I'm not loosing out on finds.
    I'm tempted to hack them open and see if I can transplant the innards into a set of ear defenders to make them a bit more robust.

    I don't see why not. Just be careful taking them apart. Good luck with it if you go for it. Keep us up to date.
    Thanks, Mike
