I'm a bit suprised at this as C-Scope are normally fairly cheap for repairs.
With the grey 1220 you could just put the coil on. The 1220XD and the later XDP might need the inbuilt ground balance set to suit the new coil but you might just get away with it or even find you may get better results than with the original. After all they just make a setting that suits an average site and give that as the first ground setting with the option of selecting GD2 (GND2) ? to cope with worse mineralisation.
If you think you have lost performance with the new coil you could just open the machine up and track back from the ground exclude knob and there should be an adjustable pot or trimmer.
If you need a circuit diagram Ludmil Barossov in Bulgaria did have one for the 1220 series. You should be able to find him with a search on the Geotech forum.
