    Ground balance and it's effects???

So I go to the beach yesterday with my AT Pro. Set it up GB it and and all... over all a good day, though nothing found.

My question referring to ground balancing is this.

In Wet sand I had to balance to around 12 or 13. but could have sensitivity to max without any real issues unless i bumped the coil (turning down sens. fixes that.). Now when I moved to the dry stuff, and I hit auto balance and did the bounce, the GB numbers never moved, so I manually set it to the max GB of 99, then hit the auto button again... numbers didn't move. It would seem as though I could use the max or minimum numbers in dry sand without any detriment.
Am I missing something? shouldn't the dry sand require a higher GB or does it not really matter?

If my GB is too low for say... level 80 ground.. and i am set at 13 what would the effects be, I understand what it does in the salt water.. its obvious... But haveing a low setting on say dirt or dry sand didn't seem to be an issue.

Most Florida sand has little or no mineralization, so any GB setting will work. When you get into wet salt sand, you GB to the salt. When you move to dry sand, you can leave it at the same GB point, but typically a salt GB will also reject very fine gold jewelry. So it's better to move the GB point away from salt unless you really need it.

It's amazing to see the difference between the Florida sand and this East Tennessee clay.............
