The Excal's BBS technology is a really nice thing...

    http://www.minelab.com/usa/consumer/...b-technologies

BBS is Minelab’s patented multiple frequency metal detection technology. BBS transmits a broad range of 17 frequencies from 1.5 kHz to 25.5 kHz. This broad range of frequencies gives the detector more information about a target and the surrounding environment

    Re: excal or texnetic?

Whites are very good machines and have great customer service...Where I hunt and the type of hunting I do has alot to do with what machine I use. I do think the excaliburs are better then the white's but the Dual Field is a in the water machine and there the excal can not match it. I also feel the excaiburs once out of warranty need several Mods to help them out performance wise as do many other detectors.

    Excals are junk
Newer ones I would say not as well built, Older? You take care of them and they are good for many years.

minelab has the crappiest customer service in the world
Let me add most expensive also.............Some of the prices they want for repair..895 for a new main board...........450 for a new coil installed..........250..for new headphones installed.........This I would agree, thats why I repair all 5 excaliburs that I own myself. I do have to say they will find the Gold, been using them for 5 years now, part time hunter, I get out maybe 30 times a year.. 104 Gold rings, just a few found with my other machines

    Metal Detecting

    Re: excal or texnetic?

As Oldebeechnut stated...the new Excals are not as good asthe older models. Since the company was sold they are not the quality detectors that they were making a few years ago. You would be better off buying a lightly used older Excal 1000 then a new model.

I've hear this from multiple detector dealers...a few of which were Minelab dealers.
