I do not know of ANYONE, that uses a pinpointer in dry or wet sand. It is "pointless." You don't need one if you are using the right sandscoop. Good luck to you though, and best of luck.

Times have changed since you asked this question.
If you look at dry and wet sand beach detecting videos with the CTX-3030, you will see many
detectorists, including dealers using a pin pointer, usually a garrett pro pin pointer or the newer minelab pin pointer to isolate targets. The reason is that the CTX-3030 is more sensitive to smaller targets than the detectors which preceeded it. Since both of the above pinpointers uses a technology similar to that used to find nails in a wall, they do not interfere with VLF or PI detectors.

The Vibra probe uses PI technology and it interferes with detectors using either PI or VLF technology. Likewise
PI and VLF detectors interfere with the Vibra Probe. However, it is not a big deal as long as you keep the detector coil away from the pin pointer and point the detector coil away from the hole.

Does any have experience using the Whites pi dual field in shallow water or wet sand at beach with a vibra probe, equatic or garrett pinpointer? Does anyone get interference using any of these pointers with a pulse induction detector?
Dan
