I'm a geologist and a rockhound. I love to go into streams and around old mines looking for raw specimens. I would like to get a metal detector that can find relics, coins and other valuables. Not a gold detector, but if it could find gold that would be a plus. Just a top of the line detector to buy and not have to worry about an upgrade. It does need to be one that performs in highly mineralized soil. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thank You.y

Any of the nugget detectors should work great for that. I've found a lot of specimens with my GMT, and others have done well with the Fisher Gold Bugs. So, lots of choices (which is nice). Garrett, Tesoro, Whites, Fisher. Take your pick. Steve's Guide to Gold Nugget Detectors
