I am looking for a GPS receiver for a long time.
The device should very accurately save waypoints or locations.
Routes should not be recorded.
Different types of waypoints should be assigned.
The data output must be gpx for using in a software or google-earth.
I like the garmin etrex 10 actually, butthe reviews for this device are contradictory.

Can anyone tell me if this device is accurate enough?

I just bough the GARMIN 62st - very very happy!!

extremely accurate, can choose to records routes etc, can load loads of waypoints with different icons for each.

left it on the back seat of the car, and still picked up satellites!!

a handheld gps is a great tool for metal detecting

I use a now outdated garmin etrex legend. Garmin handhelds are very tough and you should have no problems finding compatible maps

I have an older Garmin "ETREX" and it works great for me. All GPS units will vary on given days due to satellite movement or drift. Unless you can use the military signals there is nothing you can do about it as far as I know. That little Garmin will store a lot of waypoints and up to 20 tracks. You can label the waypoints however you like and apply a number of different icons for them. Love mine.
