Re: DIY Finds display case (PART 2)

Mike, that came out very nice. I was just thinking instead of clasp on the outside...What about a small magnet..just an idea. Great display case, Mike

That came out good Mike. Nice work. I myself was thinking of making something to hold a few of my better finds.

Re: DIY Finds display case (UPDATED 2-22-08 Ring Display)

I made this last year and had'nt done nothing with it. Last night I made it into a ring display. I'm going to hang my religious medal finds from pins under the rings. I put the time into making it so I might as well use it.
Take care, Mike in NJ

Mike,

The display cases turned out really nice...you did a good job. I love the way the rings and religious medals are in the last case, a great display for all those beautiful finds.

Re: Finds display case (Updated 2-22-08 now it's a ring display)

Mike,

The displays look great! I want to display some buttons and other artifacts that I have found but do not know how to keep them in place. I would not think about gluing them since this would ruin a button or artifact. How do you get them to stay in one spot even if you hung the display on the wall or stood it up?

Thanks

Funkman

Re: Finds display case (Updated 2-22-08 now it's a ring display)

Funkman I added about 1 inch of styrofoam and glued a piece of some kind of craft material my wife had laying around. I then took a utility knife and just cut through it a bit to push the rings in place. That was it. For the religious medals I just used pins and pushed them into the styrofoam. Some of the pins I had to cut first. No big deal. The buckles and stuff are just laying in there not secured. It's all the same display not multiple ones. With the buckles and stuff I would'nt be able to stand it up, just lay it down. As for buttons I'm not sure. Maybe do the same as I did with the styrofoam but use fishing line through the shank of the buttons (i know some are probably missing shanks) from the back of the display. I'm sorta in the same dilemma. I just bought a great looking display case on ebay for 1 cent plus shipping and it's probably 3" deep. When I come up with something for that one I'll post it. Hope this helps.

Re: Finds display case (Updated 2-22-08 now it's a ring display)

thanks for the info Mike. I am thinking about just going to the craft store and by a shadow box and see if I can work something out with it. Will post it if I get it working.

Thanks again
