Nope, air test mean little to nothing.

Depending on how bad your ground is you could loose 3/4 of that depth. Unless your hunting for treasure in the air it's just a test to see if your detector is working.

Air tests is good to measure form detector to detector to give a indication of performance. There is no machine or method that can determine what is going to be in the soil between your detector and the target.

Air tests are useful to see differences between detectors, different coils, or to compare performance to an earlier test if performance seems to be changing. Real life, inground performance can vary quite a bit depending on mineralization, ground balance settings etc.
